WHAT IS RESISTANCE |
All conductors do not allow passage of electricity with the same ease. For example, even though silver, copper and carbon are all conductors, silver is a better conductor than copper, and copper is a better conductor than carbon. So, we say that carbon offers more resistance to passage of electricity than copper, and that copper offers more resistance than silver. Resistance is the physical quantity that opposes the flow of electric current in a conductor. The higher the resistance, the lower is the current under similar conditions. |
