(i) The s-block elements are metals .They are soft and have low melting and boiling points .
(ii) The general electronic configuration of s-block elements is ns1-2.
(iii) They are highly electropositive and can lose their valence electrons to form monovalent or divalent cation .
(iv) These elements act as strong reducing agents .
(v) They mostly form ionic compounds .
