Characteristics of f-block elements :
(i) The f-block elements have high melting and boiling points .
(ii) They show variable oxidation state and the most common is +3 oxidation state .
(iii) They form coloured salts because these salts absorb light of certain wavelength from the visible light .
(iv) Actinides (5f-series ) are radioactive elements .
