| Chemical oxygen demand (COD) is an important water quality parameter .COD is an index of the organic content of water (oxygen demanding substances in water). Chemical oxygen demand (COD) is a measure of both the biologically oxidisable and biologically inert organic matter such as cellulose . Biological Oxygen Demand(BOD) is also a water quality parameter .It is defined as the amount of free oxygen required (mg/L) for the bacterial break down of the organic matter under aerobic conditions at 20 0C in a sample of water for a period of five days. |
