To complete a job, Vinod needs 5 days less than that jose needs. Both of them together can complete the job in 6 days.How many days will jose take to complete the job, if he alone does the job?
Let x be the number of days that Jose take to complete the job.
Then , x (x-5) = 6
ie, x2 - 5x = 6
ie, x2 - 5x - 6 =0
(x - 6) (x + 1 ) = 0
implies x = 6 or x = -1
We cannot take the number of days as negative.
So x = 6
