| Chlorine can be prepared by the oxidation of chloride . Hydrogen chloride or a mixture of sodium chloride and con.H2SO4 can be oxidised to chlorine by using oxidising agents such as MnO2,Pb2O4,KClO3,K2Cr2O7or bleaching powder . Example : Chlorine can be prepared by heating a mixture containing sodium chloride and potassium permanganate with concentrated sulphuric acid .  |
