what is the cause of volcano & chuzhi (malayalam) |
The earth has three main layers: the crust, the mantle and the core.Temperatures inside the earth are very high – over 5000’C in the core. The planet on which we live is like a huge fiery ball of hot molten rock, surrounded by a few kilometers of relatively cool, hard rock – the crust. Because heat rises, along with pressure build up inside the magma in the earth’s mantle has to find a way to rise upwards though the crust above it. A volcano erupts when magma escapes from inside the earth. As the magma is escaping from a confined space, a lot of energy is released with it. It produces huge quantities of gases and dust. Magma sometimes rises under enormous pressure, so it not only finds cracks in the earth’s crust, it can also create them. When magma reaches the earth’s surface it is called lava. A rip current (under current) is a narrow, powerful current of water running perpendicular to the beach, out into the ocean. These currents may extend 200 to 2,500 feet (61 to 762 m) lengthwise, but they are typically less than 30 feet (9 m) wide. Rip currents can move at a pretty good speed, often 5 miles per hour (8 kph) or faster. These currents are often called "riptides," Rip currents are caused by the shape of the shoreline itself, and they may be sudden and unexpected .Undertow describes a current of water that pulls you down to the ocean bottom. Rip currents move along the surface of the water, pulling you straight out into the ocean, but not underneath the water's surface. |
