Rinderpest (cattle plague) is caused by Morbillivirus belonging to the family Paramyxoviridae, order Mononegavirales.These include high fever, constipation followed by acute diarrhea leading to dehydration, erosions and open sores in the mouth, and discharge from eyes and nose. The affected animal loses appetite and seems depressed, isolating itself from other members of the herd. Death can occur within 6-12 days.
