Why is Asoka called Asoka the Great?

Ashoka is remembered as one of the greatest kings of India. He was not only a great conqueror but also a great administrator.His administrative system was based on public welfare. He was a man of  high ideals. He was a well wisher of the whole human race. Ashoka was  the only ruler  who won the heart of the people by his noble deeds, high ideals and good character. Following were the main qualities and traits of his character due to which  Ashoka achived Such greatness in his life.

  2. He was a great conqueror.
  3. He was a great administrator.
  4. His religious policy .
  5. He was a great idealist and National builder.
  6. He patronized art and architecture.
