resistor

We know that the electrical components are classified int 2 categories.Passive components and active components.The resistor is a passive two terminal electrical component of a circuit that resists the flow of electrical current. It has two terminals across which electricity must pass, and it is designed to drop the voltage of the current as it flows from one terminal to the other. Resistors are primarily used to create and maintain known safe currents within electrical components.

The current through a resistor is in  direct proportion to the voltage across the resistor's terminals. This relationship is represented by Omh's law

I = {V \over R}

where I is the current through the conductor in units of amperes, V is the potential difference measured across the conductor in units of volts,and R is the resistance of the conductor in units of ohms.
