Which soil requires less irrigation?

Clay soil
These soils have a higher percentage of clay, are hard when dry and sticky when wet, and have a very high water retaining capacity and very poor permeability. These soils tend to be the most difficult for gardeners to work with, for they are dense, poorly drained, and poorly aerated.
