The basic principle of electrostatic precipitation involves the movement of charged particles from the gas stream to a grounded surface, known as a collecting plate. Collected materials accumulate on the collecting plate surface and are periodically removed by Rappers. The design characteristics of the collecting plate are important for efficiency and long-term reliable operation. Hamon Research-Cottrell's "G" Opzel™ collecting electrode incorporates our traditional Optimum Precipitation Zone Electrode design that provides quiescent zones to aid in particulate collection and to reduce re-entrainment during rapping.
The "G" Opzel collecting electrodes are sheet steel roll-formed into panel plates that are shop welded together into assemblies which reduces field installation time. ![]() "G" Opzel™ The structural integrity of the collecting plate assembly is assured by rolled tube stiffened plate girder section at the top and bottom. This assembly has also been found to be very dynamically responsive during rapping, allowing collected materials to be dislodged without excessive force. Rapping forces are distributed into the panel sections through the top stiffener and end plates. The hyperbolic top end plates transition section distributes the impact stress in the top plate girder section and efficiently transfers the rapping energy into the panel sections of the collector plates. |
