  The doctrine of Lapse was introduced by Lord Dalhousie. According to this, if the ruler of a protected or dependent state died without natural heir his state would automatically Lapse.ii) The victim of this doctrine are Stara , Jaitpur, Sambapur , Udapur , Nagpur  and Jhansi .
