Sodium acetate, C2H3NaO2, also abbreviated NaOAc also known as sodium ethanoate and hot ice , is the sodium salt of acetic acid. This colourless salt has a wide range of uses.
Preparation
It {SODIUM ACETATE} can be prepared easily by Vinegar and Baking Soda. { Because Sodium ethanoate is the sodium salt of acetic acid. }
Baking soda is pure Sodium bicarbonate. It is an organic salt and an easy base./ inegar contains acetic acid.Mixing vinegar and baking soda causes a chemical reaction where the vinegar produces an unstable acetic acid that immediately breaks down into carbon dioxide and water.
Baking soda and vinegar react together and release a gas. The chemical reaction is:CH3COOH (acetic acid) + NaC3H2O2 (sodium bicarbonate) ? NaC2H3O2 (sodium acetate) + H2O (water) + CO2 (carbon dioxide gas)The carbon dioxide being released causes the reaction to bubble.
