Telescopes collect light and other forms of energy from stars and galaxies. The energy travels in wavelength, but Earth's atmosphere stops some of these reaching our planet's surface. Telescopes located in space are able to collect the full range of wavelengths and give us a more complete view of the universe. They can also be used 24 hours a day.
