Tux Paint

Tux paints is a free drawing program designed for young children. It has a simple, easy to use interface, fun sound effects and an encouraging cartoon mascot who helps guide children as they use the program.

To Open the Tux Paint

Application  > Graphics > Tux Paint.

Components of Tux Paint

Toolbar, Colours, Drawing canvas, Selector, Help area.

Tools available in Tux Paint.

The toolbox contains the drawing and editing color controls. The tools are:-

    

Paint brush tool

The Paint Brush tools is used to drawn free hand.

 

Line tool

This tool is used to drawn straight lines using the various brushes and colours.

 

To drawn a line using line tool.

Click the line tool to select it. Select a Brush and a color.

To drawn shapes.

       1. Select the Shape tool.

       2. Select a Shape from the selector

       3. In the canvas, click the mouse to pick the centre.

       4. Drag it to stretch the shape out from where you clicked.

       5. Let go the mouse when your done stretching

       6. Now you can move the mouse around the canvas to rotate the shapes by using the arrow.

       7. Click the mouse button again and the shape will be drawn in the current color.

 

Stamp tool

The stamp tool is like a set of rubber stamps or stickers.

                    1. Click the Stamp tool

                    2. Pick a picture to stamp of the canvas

                    3. Click on the canvas to stamp it.

 

Text tool

Text tool is used to add text to your drawings.

                   1. Click the Text box

                    2. Choose a Font and a Color

                    3. Click on the screen and a cursor will appear. Type text and it will show up in the screen.

                    4. Press enter and the text will be drawn into the picture and the cursor will move down one line.

 

Eraser

                  1. Select the Eraser tool

                   2. Select a shape of the Eraser tool from the tool box.

 

Magic Tool

Magic Tool is actually a set of special tools. Select one of the "magic" effects from the selector on the right. Then depending on the tool, you can either click and drag around the picture, and / or simply click the picture once to apply the effect.
