1. Who was murdered in Sarajevo ? Why it became part of history ?
Archduke Franz Ferdinand was killed on June 28th of 1914 in Sarajevo by some Bosnian Serb terrorists. It became part of the history because the dispute between Austria and Serbian related to the assassination of Franz Ferdinand led to the First World War.
2. How was Franz Ferdinand killed in Sarajevo?
When Archduke planned to visit Sarajevo in Bosnia, Bosnian Serb terrorists made a plot to kill him. They were six in number and waited for him mixed up with crowd. When he reached, the first one, Mehmedbasic became frightened and did nothing. The next assassin, Cabriolvic lost his nerve, but as the car passed him he throw a bomb into it and ran away thinking that archduke was blasted. But the archduke escaped the bomb as his car crossed the bomb. But accidentally the archduke's car came in front of the third assassin Principe. With out wasting time, he shot the archduke and his wife. Both of them died immediately.
3. What is Triple Alliance?
In 1905, each European country was heavenly armed and each country had its own reason for distrusting other countries. The central powers of Europe are Germany, Austria-Hungary and Italy. They always feared of other countries like Russia, France and Britain. So they made an alliance called Triple Alliance, in order to protect themselves from other countries.
4. Describe the Triple Entente.
Even though France was the initial rival of Britain, fearing Germany, Britain started to co-operate with France. Adding Russia to their team, they formed the Triple Entente to face Germany and other rivals.
5. Why was the alliances called as 'Balance of Power'?
Politicians at that time called the Triple Alliance and Triple Entente as the 'Balance of Power'. This is because they believed that the power of these alliances would prevent either side from starting a war.
6. Why was Britain concerned about Germany's naval plans?
The British empire was spread all over the world. So it had a powerful navy which was spread all over the world. In the mean time, Germany formed their own navy as they wanted to protect their growing trade. But Britain thought, since Germany does not have a large colony like Britain, why they wanted such a big way. This worried British people very much and brought a distrust in Germany.
7. What was the plan of War for Germany in 1914?
Germany's army was not the biggest in Europe, but they were the most trained and powerful one. In order to face the war, the Germans came with Schlieffen Plan. Under this plan, they would quickly attack and defeat France and then turn their forces to Russia.

Wilhelm II was born 1861 as a physically challenged kid. His brain was damaged which affected his hearing. He became Kaiser at the age 27. Under his rule, Germany was growing and was becoming a world power. He was famous for his energy and enthusiasm. He likes to be photographed in military uniform. He liked physical exercises and practical jokes. He was very closely involved in Germany's plan for war. When Germany was defeated in 1918, he fled into exile. He died in 1941.

France had a large and well equipped army. Its plan of attack was known as Plan 17. Using this, French troops would charge across the frontier and attack deep into German.
10. How did Britain plan to face war?
Britain militants were closely working with French. This lead to Britain setting up the British Expeditionary Force which consists of around 1.5 lakhs well trained professional soldiers. BEF would closely work with France and fight along with France.

Morocco is situated in North Africa. In 1905, the German Kaiser visited Morocco. Germany wanted to make itself a super power. France also had the same intention. They throw back the Germany and took control of Morocco. There arouse a distrust among France and Germany which later led to Ist World War.
