4. How the plants are useful to human being?

Plants are very important in our everyday life. They provide us with food, oxygen, medicine, wood, fibre and many other useful products. Plants purify air by taking in carbon dioxide and giving out oxygen during photosynthesis. The roots of plant help to prevent soil erosion.

5. What are cereals?

Food grains such as wheat, rice, barley, millet, oat, corn and maize are obtained from plants. Food grains are also called cereals. Cereal grains are rich in carbohydrate.

6. Name the pulses which we can see around us.

Pulses such as beans, peas, soya beans,  bengal gram, toor dal and moong dal are also produced by plant.
