    We need food to live , to grow and to get energy. Food makes us healthy and strong.
    We get most of our food from plants and animals.

2. Sources of Food

  • Food From Plants

 There are some plants which gives us food and grains.

 Cereal and pulses are called food grains. 

        

   Wheat                           Rice

 

  There are some plants which gives us fruits.

              

    Mango                     Banana                                  Grapes

 

 There are some plants which gives us vegetables.

  • Food from Animals

  We get meat from animals. We also eat fish and chicken (Hen). Goat's meat is known as mutton. Meat is very good for health.

  •   We also get eggs and milk from animals.
  •   Hens and ducks give us eggs.
  •   Cows, buffaloes and goats give us milk. Milk is good for growing children. We should drink 2-3 glasses of milk every day.

3. Food - Types of people 

    People who eat eggs, meat and fish are called non- vegetarians.

    People who do not eat eggs, meat and fish are  called vegetarians.They eat only plants and its parts.

4. Eating time

    Breakfast, lunch and dinner are three very important meals in a day.

We eat breakfast every morning.
We should always have a glass
of milk at breakfast.

   Lunch is eaten in the afternoon. Chapattis, rice, dal and vegetables make a healthy lunch.

   We eat dinner at night. Try to have dinner with your family. We should eat our meals at the right time. It helps us to become strong.

5. Good Food Habits

  • Wash your hands before eating.
  • Eat your meals at a regular time every day.
  • Eat only fresh and clean food.
  • Eat slowly. Chew your food well.
  • Never eat uncovered food.
  • Do not waste food and water.
  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Avoid eating junk food. Foods like chocolates, burger, pizza and coke are junk food.
