1. Explain in detail about the auto correct option in MS Word.

Auto correct option in MS Word automatically corrects the text as it is being typed. MS Word has a list of commonly misspelled words such as ‘teh’ for ‘the’ or ‘receive’ for  ‘receive’ . When you type a word that matches the Auto Correct entry, the computer automatically changes it to the correct spelling. You can also add or delete entries in the list. It is designed to

  • Correct common typing or spelling errors automatically.
  • Change two initial capitals.
  • Capitalize the first letter of a day.
  • Capitalize the first letter of a sentence.

2. What are the steps for adding entries to the Auto Correct list?

On the Tools menu click Auto Correct options. The Auto Correct dialog box opens.

             

In the Replace box, type a word or phrase that you often mistype.

            

  • In the With box, type the correct spelling of the word.
  • The misspelled word and the correctly spelled one are added to the list
  • Click on the OK button.

Next time when you misspell the word it will be automatically corrected as you type.

3. What are the steps for changing Auto Correct entries?

On the Tools menu, click on Auto Correct Options. The Auto Correct dialog box opens.

          

  • Choose the entry in the list that you want to edit.
  • Type the new entry in the With box.
  • Click on Replace to change the entry in the list.
  • Click on delete to remove the entry from the list/
  • Click on OK button.
  • When the Replace button is clicked the dialog box shown below appears.

         

4. Write short note on Auto Text feature.

Auto Text is a feature that is used to store formatted text, paragraphs or graphics. It is a way to insert or type the same thing over and over, but you have to press fewer keys to do so. An Auto Text entry can store anything such as text and pictures. An Auto Text entry can be inserted by typing its name and pressing the F3 key.
Example : Imagine you are writing a novel and the hero’s name is Ram Prasad. To save time, create an Auto Text entry called ‘rp’ for Ram Prasad. While typing the novel, type “rp” and press F3 key to change it to Ram Prasad.

5. What are the steps for creating an Auto Text entry?

  • Select the text you want to store as Auto Text. (For example, Ram Prasad)
  • On the Insert menu, click on Auto Text and select New.

           

  • In the Create Auto Text dialog box, type a name for the entry.

          

  • Click on the OK button.

Now when you type your Auto Text entry name (rp) into your document and press the F3 key, the complete text (Ram Prasad) appears.

6. Write the steps for inserting a footnote or an endnote.

  • Click the Print Layout View  button at the bottom left corner of the window.

            

  • In the document, click where you want to insert the reference mark.
  • On the Insert menu, select Reference and then click on Footnote.


               

  • The Footnote and Endnote dialog box opens.

                      

  • Click on the Footnotes and Endnotes in the Location section.
  • In the Number format box, click on the format you want.
  • Click on Symbol if you want symbol reference marks instead of numbers.
  • Click on Insert.
  • Word inserts the reference number and the cursor appears in the footnote area next to the note number.

              

  • Type the note text.

7. How to add a picture watermark?

On the Format menu, select Background and then click on Printed Watermark.

             

  • Click on the Picture Watermark option.

             

  • Click on Select Picture.

              

  • Browse to select the picture you want.
  • Click on Insert.
  • In the Scale box, select Auto.

             

  • Click to select the Washout check box.
  • Click on the OK button.

8. How to add Text Watermark?

On the Format menu, select Background and then click on Printed Watermark. The Printed Watermark dialog box opens.

             

  • Click on Text Watermark option.
  • In the Text drop-down list, select the text to be used as watermark. You can also type in the watermark text box.
  • Select the Font Size and Color.

               

  • To change the orientation of the text, click on either Diagonal or Horizontal.
  • Click on the OK button.
