1. State page margin.

Page margins are the blank spaces around the edges of the page. It ensures the text is set within a specified margin and the documents looks pleasing.
There are different methods of setting the page margins.

  • Using ruler
  • Using page setup

2. Steps for Ruler method.

  1. Move the mouse over the area where the gray ruler changes to white.
  2. When the cursor becomes a double-ended arrow, click with the mouse and drag the margin indicator to the desired location.
  3. Release the mouse when the left margin is set.                 

3. Write steps for changing margin using the page setup?

The margins can also be changed using the Page Setup dialog box. Select File → Page Setup and choose the Margins tab in the dialog box.

                           

  • Enter margin values in the Top, Bottom, Left and Right boxes. The preview window will reflect the changes.
  • If the document has headers and footers, the distance for the text to appear from the edge of the page can be changed.
  • Click OK when finished.

4. Explain page size and orientation.

This option helps in deciding the size of the paper and also the direction of printing on the paper.

Page size and orientation can be changed within the Page Setup dialog box.

  1. Select File → Page Setup and choose the Paper Size tab. You will find different paper sizes.
  2. Select the paper size from the drop-down menu.
  3. Change the orientation to portrait or landscape by checking the corresponding radio button.             

NOTE: In portrait Orientation, the document is printed along the width of the paper. In Landscape Orientation, the document is printed along the length of the paper.

5. What are headers and footers?

A header is the text that is added to the top margin of every page and a footer is the text added to the bottom margin. The header or footer can include text or graphics, for example page number, the date, a company logo, the document title or file name or the author's name.

                                  

6. Write steps to add or edit headers and footers.

Follow these steps to add or edit headers and footers in the document.

1. Select View → Header and footer from the menu bar. The Header and Footer toolbar will appear and also the top of the page will be highlighted.
                Text can be typed/selected with the methods explained below:
                    a. Type the heading in the Header box. You may use many of the standard text formatting options such as font face, size, bold, italics etc.
                    b. Click the Insert → Auto Text button to view a list of quick options that are available.
                    c. Use the other options on the toolbar to add page numbers, the current date and time.
2. To edit the footer, click the Switch Between Header and Footer button on the toolbar.
3. When you have finished adding Headers and Footers, click the Close button on the toolbar.

7. Steps to add page numbers?

Follow these steps to add page numbers to a document.

            

  1. Select Insert → Page numbers from the menu bar and the Page numbers dialog box will appear.
  2. Select the position of the page numbers by choosing "Top page" or "Bottom of page" from the Position drop-down menu.
  3. Select the alignment of the page numbers in the Alignment drop-down menu.
  4. If you do not want the page number to be displayed on the first page, uncheck the Show number on first page box.
  5. Click OK when finished.

8. State print preview?

Print Preview displays the document as it appears after printing. Preview your document by clicking the Print Preview button on the standard toolbar or by selecting File → Print Preview. Margins can be changed in Print Preview using a ruler. The changes applied in preview window will be applied to the whole document.

Note: In Print Preview, the mouse pointer changes to that of a magnifying glass. If you take it to any point on the document and click, it will enlarge that area and you can take a closer look at the document.

9. How can we done printing?

When the document is ready to be printed, click the Print button from the print preview screen or select File → Print.

                   

10. Write options is used to select a different name for the printer for printing.

This option is used to select a different name for the printer for printing.

  1. Choose File → Print. The Print dialog box appears as shown.
  2. Select an installed printer under name option in print dialog box.

11. Write different options in print dialog box.

  1. Select File → Print. A Print dialog box will be displayed as shown.
  2. Select one of the following:
  • To print selected text, choose Selection option.
  • To print only the page where the cursor is placed, select the Current page option.
  • To print range of pages, or specific pages, select the Pages option and type the page numbers in the box.

For example: Type 3 to print only third page. Type 5-7 to print fifth page to seventh page.

  • To print only odd or even pages, select the option odd or even from the Print list box and click OK.
