1. Between what two numbers is a three digit number?
     The smallest three digit number is 100 and the largest is 999, So all three digit numbers are between 99 and 100.

2. Which is the number got when all digits from 1 to 9 are written from smallest to largest ? How do we read if?         Number : 123456789.
      Twelve crores thirty four lakhs fifty six thousands seven hundred and eighty nine.

3. A book exhibition was held for four days in a school. The number of tickets sold at the counter on the first, second, third and final days was respectively 1094, 1912, 2050 and 2751. Find the total number of tickets sold on all the four days.
     Tickers sold on the first day      = 1094
     Tickets sold on the second day= 1812
     Tickets sold on the third day     = 2050
     Tickets sold on the final day     = 2751
     Total number of tickets sold on all the four days = 1094 + 1812 + 2050 + 2751 = 7707.

4. Shekhar is a famous cricket Player. He has so far scored 6980 runs in test matches. He wishes to complete 10,000 runs. How many more runs does he need?                                                                                                                                
     Shekhar wishes to complete     = 10,000 runs
     He has so far scored                 =  6,980 runs
     Number of more runs he needs = 3020 runs

                                                                                                        

5. Find the difference between the greatest and the least numbers that can be written using the digits 6,2,7,4,3 each only once.
      Greatest number = 7
6,432                                       
      Least number = 23, 467
      Difference = 76432 - 23467 = 52965.

6. A machine, on an average, manufactures 2, 825 screws a day. How many screws did it produce in the month of January 2013?
      Number of screws produced in one day = 2, 825

      Number of screws produced in 31 days = 2, 825 × 31 =  87, 572.     
                                                                                                                       

7. A merchant had Rs. 78,592 with him. He placed an order for purchasing 40 radio sets at Rs. 1,200 each. How much money will remain with him after the purchase?
      Cost of one radio set =  Rs.1,200

     Cost of 40 radio sets = Rs.1,200 × 40 = Rs.48,000
     Total money with the merchant = Rs.78,592
     Money spent on purchasing 40 radio sets = Rs.48,000
     Remaining money  with the merchant = Rs.30, 592.  
                                                                                     

8. A student multiplied 7236 by 65 instead of multiplying by 56. How much was his answer greater than the correct answer ?
     7236 × 65  = 470340
     7236 × 56  = 405216

                                              
       Hence his answer was 65124 greater than the correct answer.

9. Medicine is packed in boxes. Each such box weighs 4 kg 500 g. How many such boxes can be loaded in a van which cannot carry beyond 800 kg?
      800 kg = 800 × 1000 = 8,00,000 g

      4 kg 500 g = 4 × 1000 + 500 = 4,500 g
      ∴  Required number of boxes = 8,00,000 ÷ 4,500 = 177

10. The distance between the school and the house of a student is 1 km 875 m. Everyday she walks both ways between her school and home. Find the total distance covered by her in five days.
       Distance between the school and the house = 1 km  875 m

                                                                             = 1 × 1000 + 875 = 1,875 m

        Both ways distance = 2 × 1,875 = 3,750 m
       ∴ Total  distance covered by her in five days = 5 × 3,750 m = 1,8750 m
.                                                                  

11. How many centimetres make a Kilometre?
        1 Kilometre (km) = 1000 × 100 = 1,00,000 cm.

12. How many milligrams make one Kilogram?
     
1 Kilogram = 1000 × 1000 milligrams (mg) = 10,00,000 mg.

13. Place commas correctly and write the numerals.
      a) Seventy three lakh seventy five thousand three hundred seven.
      b) Twenty three lakh thirty thousand ten.

         a) 73, 75, 307.
         b) 23, 30, 010.

14. Insert commas suitably and write the names according to Indian system of numeration.
