A sketch is a pictorial chart of an area,drawn on a flat surface like a paper or a board. It helps us to locate places.A sketch is mainly based on memory and spot observation and not a scale. Sometimes a rough drawing is required of an area to tell where a particular place is located with respect to other places.

7. What do you mean by a plan?

A plan is a drawing of a small area on a large scale. A detailed reference to a map drawings,drawn to a large scale is called a plan.

8. What do you mean by intermediate directions and which are the intermediate directions?

The intermediate directions are directions in between the cardinal directions (north, south, east and west) on a compass. They are NE for northeast,SE for southeast, SW for southwest, and NW for northwest. The intermediate directions, along with the cardinal directions,are used regularly in a wide variety of circumstances. They are featured on compasses and maps. Drivers, pilots and others use them regularly to find and follow travel routes.

9. Where do the Sun set and rise?

The Sun rises in the east and sets in the west. The Sun rises on the horizon after the Earth spins it's rotation. The exact time of the Sun rise and Sun set can vary from day to day and month to month.

Compass is an instrument used to find out main directions.Its magnetic needle always points towards north-south direction.
