1. Convert the following into gram.

a.  3 kg 630 g   

= 3 × 1000 g   +  630 g

= 3000 g + 630 g

= 3630 g

b. 6 kg 100 g

= 6 × 1000 g + 100 g

= 6000 g + 100 g

= 6100 g

c. 5 km 600 m

= 5 × 1000 m + 600 m

= 5000 m + 600 m

= 5600 m

d. 1 km 7 m

= 1 × 1000 m + 7 m

= 1007 m

2. Add the following:

Convert into meters

c) 15 m  

= 15 × 100

=  1500 cm

d) 23 m  80 cm

= 23 × 100 cm + 80 cm

= 2300 cm + 80 m

 

4. Check if the fractions are equivalent.

a)    2 × 9   = 18

                       3 ×  6   = 18

The products are equal. So , 2/3 and 6/9 are equivalent.

 b)    2 × 10   = 20

                        5 ×  6    = 30

The products are not equal, so 2/5 and 6/10 are not equal.

5. Write the fraction for the following.

1. Nr - 3

2. Dr - 5

Fraction = 3/5

1. Nr = 4

2. Dr = 7

Fraction = 4/7

6. Addition of fractions:

1. 3/9 + 2/9 

(3+2)/9  =  5/9

2. 4/ + 3/9  + 1/9

=   

= 8/9

7. 48 pencils are to be packed equally in 6 boxes. How many will be there in each box?

Total number of pencils  = 48

Number of box  = 6

Number of pencils in each box = 48 ÷ 6 = 8

8. 125 students are to be seated in 5 rows. How many students will be seated in each row?

Total number of students  = 125

Number of row = 5

Number of students in each row = 125 ÷ 5  = 25

9. Divide the following.

a. 48 ÷ 4         

b. 55 ÷ 5  

a. 48 ÷ 4  = 12        

b. 55 ÷ 5  = 11
