3. Switch on the CPU
4. Switch on the Monitor

Starting the computer system is called booting.
The desktop is the display screen that appears once the computer is switched on.
The items displayed on the desktop are : Icons,Taskbar and Start button.

The small pictures displayed on the desktop area is known as icons.
An icon helps us to choose an item on the computer screen.
Start button is located at the bottom of the Desktop.
Start button is used for opening programs,applications and documents,changing settings,turning off the computer and many other purpose.
Task bar is the blue bar that is located at the bottom of the desktop.
The Task bar shows the applications that are being used.It allows to quickly switch between them and it displays the time.
Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Paint.
To close Ms-Paint ,click on the close button placed at the upper right corner of the paint window.
Click on any icon,when click on the icon,the desktop area surrounding the icon turns blue and click the left mouse button twice at a short interval.
Clicking the my computer icon on the desktop , Now the my computer window is displayed.
1. Click on Start
2. Click on the Turn off computer from the start menu
3. Click on the Turn off option
4. Switch off the Monitor
5. Switch off the UPS
6. Switch off the Power switch.
The pressing of the left mouse button twice within a short interval this is called double clicking.
